Techno-economic analysis of a 5G network in Spain

Information society and mobile society are two concepts that are both linked and undeniable. The first one refers to the necessity of high amount of information to develop most aspects of our lives, while the second one is related to the importance of mobile devices to get, analyse and use that information. In other words, every mobile device (that embraces not only mobile phones but also many other gadgets) has become a tool that shall interact with information. In order to fulfil those needs, technology has evolved, resulting into faster, more secure and more reliable networks. Needless to say, mobile networks are playing an indispensable role, as long as the society is evolving to a more and more mobile one, as above mentioned. Furthermore, new applications that had not been even imagined years ago must be fulfilled as well (i.e. smart cities). There are many industries that carry the weight of this progress. Companies of various sectors of our economy must develop each piece of the puzzle to ensure that the jigsaw is solved. Another important player should not be forgotten. The regulatory institutions and frameworks must coordinate all this investigations and progress in order to assure the universality, integrity and reachability of itself. The purpose of this document is to consider what the mobile communications needs of today’s society are, what they will be on a short, mid and long run, and how can they be solved. To face this task, the two main actors above mentioned will be taken into account. From the regulatory perspective, the proposals and law measures (i.e. IMT-2020 and new frequency allocations) must be considered, as well as the technical requirements for 5G generation, whether to be considered the subsequent evolution of LTE network or a new network, or even both. From the mobile companies’ point of view, a dense analysis on technical solutions to reach the above mentioned requirements will be followed by an economic analysis to discuss the profitability of the deployment of a 5G network. It must be understood that this study contemplates several scenarios, due to the different possibilities in terms of the spectrum policies and demand evolution in the forthcoming years. To this end, the several scenarios combined with the different cases of use must be taken into account, as well as many other KPIs. Towards 5G: Techno-economic analysis of suitable use cases

The evolution of mobile networks towards the Fifth Generation (5G) introduces many concerns from the technical and economic points of view. Expected new applications exceed mobile networks' current capabilities, and 4G networks will have to evolve into 5G networks to provide some with a proper service. With regard to the ambitious intended performance of 5G networks, a huge process is required which will need to be faced both technically and economically. The 5G "ready system" standard is scheduled for 2020. However, only a few studies have carried out techno-economic evaluation of 5G. This paper presents a techno-economic analysis to foresee some feasible technical architectures leading to suitable and affordable use cases. The paper presents a new approach based on different evolving technical scenarios, establishing combined 4G/5G technical solutions and a roadmap that could provide useful insights about the most suitable use cases by scenario. Moreover, it analyses these possible use cases to determine their feasibility by optimizing their deployment costs. The study is based on the standardization process, integration of different views of key industrial players and mathematical modelling to address the new applications that 5G will provide. Finally, conclusions are drawn from the analysis and a recommendation score is established, providing useful advice to support the strategic decisions of the different stakeholders, technologists and investors involved in deployment of 5G networks.This work has been partly supported by Spanish National Projects TERESA-ADA (TEC2017-90093-C3-2-R) (MINECO/AEI/FEDER, UE)

V Semana de las lenguas

El trabajo obtuvo un premio de la Modalidad A de los Premios Tomás García Verdejo a las buenas prácticas educativas en la Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura para el curso 2011La experiencia 'Semana de las lenguas' se ha llevado a cabo en el CEIP Alfonso VIII (Plasencia, Cáceres) desde el curso 2006-2007 con el objetivo principal de acercar a los alumnos a la multiculturalidad y divesidad lingüística, a su conocimiento y al valor y respeto a las diferencias. En las distintas ediciones de la Semana de las lenguas se eligen 5 lenguas para centrar las actividades en ellas. Se describen las actuaciones realizadas en esta V Semana, destacando un proyecto documental integrado en torno a las lenguas, que consistió en que los alumnos hicieran pequeños trabajos de investigación, buscando recursos y fuentes de informaciónExtremaduraES

EnREDate en el Ribera

Se desarrolla un proyecto de innovación educativa que pretende conectar con el profesorado e implicarlo en la utilización de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación para aplicarlas en sus asignaturas y repercutir en la formación del alumnado para que igualmente utilicen las Nuevas Tecnologías como complemento a su formación. EnREDate consiste en la divulgación de una forma atractiva y puesta en práctica de una herramienta telemática de trabajo cooperativo desarrollado para centros de enseñanza. Dicha herramienta permite al profesorado y al alumnado colocar sus apuntes, trabajos y sugerencias, y un medio de comunicación La realización del proyecto se ha dividido en tres partes. En la primera parte se ha realizado la formación del profesorado en el uso de la herramienta informática Claroilex en dos turnos de formación, uno de mañana y otro de tarde. El profesorado ha recibido la información necesaria en el uso de Intranet, incidiendo especialmente en la subida de apuntes al servidor para que el alumnado pueda consultarlo, para la realización de exámenes, para la entrega de trabajos y para la comunicación de incidencias. En la segunda fase se ha informado al alumnado sobre la utilización de los recursos a través de regalos con información sobre el funcionamiento del recurso. Se distribuyen dípticos con información sobre el uso de Intranet y carpetas dónde en su portada se narra las posibilidades que pueden realizarse en la plataforma. En tercer lugar se realiza una campaña de concienciación para el uso de esta herramienta informática por parte del profesorado y del alumnado. Finalmente se desarrolla y se lleva a cabo el proyecto de Intranet, siendo exclusivo para el IES Ribera de Castilla y utilizado principalmente por el profesorado y el alumnado de conocimientos centrados en ciencias.Castilla y LeónConsejería de Educación.
